Important Reading Matter On How To Quit Drinking
In the sober light of morning many alcoholics swear they would be able to give up alcohol; yet when it comes to putting their money where their mouth is few rarely succeed. Social drinking is a very appealing idea yet rarely will an alcoholic be able to limit themselves to drinking only during social situations. For those who are addicted to alcohol their thought processes are controlled only by the alcohol and even the best intentions of quitting rarely come to be.
I am not saying that social drinking will never work however the individual must have an extremely solid support network through either a rehabilitation service or other structured avenue. What many fail to recognize is that Alcoholism is an addictive disease; however, most people also don’t recognize that iti is a disease that can be cured through self determination and will power.
Having only the odd drink is nearly impossible for most alcoholics.
For someone who’s recovering from alcoholism the idea of even having an odd drink is enough to make them break out into a cold sweat. We have all heard the stories about people who have been dry for years take one drink and fall off the wagon; the sad fact is that getting back on to the wagon is more difficult the second time around.
While there are thousands of these stories out there they all have the same hopeful beginning and the same sad ending. Deciding to quit drinking is a difficult decision to make and the decision to stay sober is an ongoing one that requires loads of will power and support.
