What is a Mantra Meditation
Mantra meditations have been known to impact us for a couple of reasons: the vibratory sound and the energy behind the sound due to repetition. A mantra can help reprogram our bodies and achieve the ultimate goal of harmonious health.
A few common mantras used when performing a mantra meditation come mostly from Hindu and Buddhist Sanskrit scripture and include the following:
Ah - This sound is used in most Japa meditations. It is a sound that is found in Amen, God, etc. It’s probably one of the most powerful sounds on earth because it stands for universality and oneness with life.
Ohm - the most commonly known mantra sound that symbolizes immortality, and helps to focus the mind.
